Respite Care

Many people provide care and assistance to their elderly parents, sick or disabled family members, friends or neighbors, enabling them to remain at home for as long as possible.  Family caregivers need time off to relax, regroup and take care of themselves. CareTrak Home Care's respite care (or relief care) provides you with this opportunity by supplying a substitute caregiver or companion for a few hours per day up to 24 hours, 7 days per week on a short term or long term basis.

There are many sources of respite care.  The most commonly used respite care sources are home care agencies, volunteer help, adult day care programs and respite care facilities. CareTrak Home Care provides a variety of respite/relief services.

Our home care respite services are varied. For example: a companion/homemaker can visit and engage your loved one in conversation, activities or hobbies, remind him or her to take medications or accompany him or her outside the home for shopping, appointments or entertainment. A companion/homemaker may also provide light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, errand and other support services. A personal caregiver/homemaker can assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, exercise and toileting, as well as provide companion level services.

Respite care is as much about the caregiver as it is about the person receiving care. It is respite care that allows the family caregiver to continue in their care giving role without burnout.
